Which dance styles does Kalpa Arts teach?

Where are classes held?

Kalpa Arts conducts Indian classical dance classes in Kollam, Kerala and Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Online classes are available for students elsewhere - arrangements can be discussed directly over WhatsApp.

Are the classes suitable for absolute beginners?

Yes. The beginner programme is built specifically for first-time learners. It covers posture, basic adavus, hand gestures, rhythm reading, and classroom discipline. No prior dance training is required.

What age can a student start classical dance at Kalpa Arts?

Children can begin from age five upward in any of the three styles - Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, or Kuchipudi - with the curriculum and pace adapted to their age. Teens and adult beginners are welcome at any time.

How are batches organized?

Batches are placed by age, prior experience, and the pace each student is comfortable with. This keeps each batch encouraging, focused, and free from comparison pressure.

What does a typical class cover?

A typical class includes warm-up and posture work, adavu practice, rhythm reading, hand-gesture and expression work, and short repertoire phrases. Sessions usually run 60–90 minutes depending on the batch.

Can adults learn classical dance from scratch?

Yes. Adults are welcomed into the beginner programme in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, or Kuchipudi and progress at their own pace. The curriculum is the same; only the warm-up, expectations, and class etiquette are adjusted to suit adult learners.

Is performance experience required?

No. Most students begin without any performance experience. Stage opportunities - when a student is ready - are introduced gradually through small recitals before larger public performances.

How do I enquire about admissions?

Send a WhatsApp message to +91 96565 38738 with the student's name, age, location, prior dance experience, and preferred class timing. A suitable batch is suggested after a short conversation.

Yes. Students who reach the performance programme can be guided toward arangetram, with structured preparation across repertoire, stamina, abhinaya, and the practical organization of a debut recital.

Are fees and timings published online?

Fees and timings are confirmed individually because they depend on the batch (beginner, technique, or performance), the location (Kollam or Chennai), and the student's age and prior experience. Please share these details when enquiring.
